MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To provide accounting services and perform general accounting duties as required by Swakop Uranium (SU), in accordance with the Financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory obligations.

 

Key Performance Areas:

l   Compile detail annual Capital Budget and assist with the compilation of 5 Year Capital Budget plan.

l   Track the cost accumulation of all CWIP projects.

l   Ensure that CWIP projects do not exceed the approved budget.

l   Facilitate a monthly capital review meeting with all stakeholders to assess the progress and all financial matters for CWIP projects.

l   Perform post implementation review for all projects and perform actual performance vs capital budget.

l   Correctly record and manage capital projects against budget.

l   Account for all costs to ensure they are recovered.

l   Support projects to implement inventory accounting and posting

l   Ensure that capital requirements for the budget and plan are obtained from the various department heads for budget and planning purposes.

l   Review and question capital requirements with due consideration to Life of Mine, Life cycle considerations, use full life considerations and previous capital plans.

l   Provide input into the annual capital budget process by providing information, trends and creating awareness of omissions.

l   Drive capital cost saving initiative through the budget process.

l   Coordinate quarterly budget revisions and forecasts.

l   Run various budget scenarios to facilitate operational and business plans related to fixed assets.

l   Prepare financial justifications for investments and new Capital Expenditure (CAPEX).

l   Provide input to support CAPEX and new business developments.

l   Verify economic benefit calculations on Capital projects.

l   Ensure that all asset additions, disposals and transfers are properly motivated and approved in accordance with company policy and assist with obtaining the necessary approvals.

l   Compile fixed asset note for the AFS on a annual basis.

l   Conduct periodic physical asset verification and provide timely reporting to EXCO.

l   Initiate and submit insurance claims.

l   Adhere to and implement internal control and governance framework.

l   Identify depreciation methods and maintain depreciation rates on the system.

l   Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, which include additions, disposals and class identification.

l   Act as liaison between the Company and the Insurance Broker.

l   Provide all required audit support for the Fixed asset management role.

Requirements

Requirements and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Accounting (B. Acc. / B. Com. / B. Compt.).
  • Honours Degree in Accounting (CTA) will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years Fixed Asset and Financial Accounting experience.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP).
  • Experience on Large Capital projects will be a distinct advantage.
  • Previous exposure in Mining industry will be a distinct advantage.
  • Previous exposure to commodity marketing / invoicing requirements.
  • Creditors and debtors account management experience.
  • Experience in financial report writing.
  • Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
