World Vision International Rwanda (WVI-Rwanda) is a prominent humanitarian and development organization committed to improving the lives of vulnerable children, families, and communities across Rwanda. Established after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, WVI-Rwanda addresses critical issues such as poverty, poor health, limited education, and food insecurity through a holistic and community-driven approach. By partnering with local communities, government institutions, and international donors, the organization implements impactful programs in child protection, health, WASH, education, and livelihoods. Despite its achievements, WVI-Rwanda faces challenges such as aid dependency, sustainability, and the need for greater intersectoral coordination. Studying its role offers essential insights into community development practices in Rwanda and contributes to broader discussions on effective, sustainable interventions in sub-Saharan Africa.
